    ABOUT COSTS

There are no charges for any legal services on contingent fee cases; however, the costs and expenses of a new case are the client's responsibility. Courts and levying officers are required to received payment for their services in advance. Thus, we require a cost deposit of $500 for each new judgment accepted for enforcement. This allows us to aggressively pursue enforcement of your judgment. Most court costs and levying officer fees can be added to the judgment. An additional deposit is required to domesticate out of state judgments. If you are a low income individual, you might qualify for a fee waiver. Click here for more information. Typical costs involved with the enforcement of a judgment are listed below.

LEVYING OFFICER FEES (SHERIFF)

Levy deposits are estimates of costs based upon the combination of statutory fees and anticipated expenses related to performing a particular type of levy. Additional deposits may be required in order to offset expenses related to the handling of inventory, moving, safekeeping of property, and conducting execution sales. A deposit, sufficient to pay the costs of seizing and storing property, is a prerequisite to the performance of any levy by the Sheriff's Civil Office. The Sheriff's statutory fees and expenses related to the enforcement of a money judgment will increase the total amount to satisfy the judgment. Any portion of the creditor's deposit that is not actually used will be refunded to the judgment creditor within a reasonable time after completion of all enforcement efforts. When the original writ is returned to the court, the Sheriff must prepare an accounting report (writ return) crediting all partial satisfactions and added costs. Deposits for such things as opening a safe deposit box and property levies vary by county.
